Privacy Policy

How Townsquare Systems Ltd. collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Last updated: 13 July 2026

1. Overview

This policy explains how Townsquare Systems Ltd. ("Townsquar", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use the Townsquar website, mobile apps and services. We are the data controller for this information and we process it in accordance with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

2. Information we collect

  • Account details — your name, email address and phone number when you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple.
  • Order and delivery details — the items you buy, your delivery address and its map location (used so our riders can find you), and your order history.
  • Payment information — payments are processed by Paystack. We receive confirmation of payment and a transaction reference; we never see or store your full card number or Mobile Money PIN.
  • Usage information — how you browse and use the Service, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).
  • Communications — messages you send our support team, reviews you post, and your notification preferences.

If you check out as a guest, we collect only what is needed to fulfil and support that order.

3. How we use your information

  • To process and deliver your orders and handle returns and refunds.
  • To operate your account, respond to support requests, and send service messages about your orders by email and phone/SMS.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the marketplace safe.
  • To personalise your shopping experience — for example, recommendations based on what you have viewed and bought.
  • To send marketing communications, only where you have opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

4. Who we share it with

  • Sellers — sellers see the order information they need to prepare your items. Because Townsquar handles delivery and customer service, sellers do not receive your contact details for direct marketing.
  • Our delivery team — riders and hub staff see your name, delivery address and phone number to deliver your parcel.
  • Paystack — our payment provider, to process payments and refunds.
  • Service providers — companies that host our infrastructure, send our emails, and help us monitor errors and understand product usage, under contracts that protect your data.
  • Authorities — where we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterwards only as long as required for legitimate business or legal purposes (for example, transaction records we must keep for tax and accounting). When you delete your account, your personal data is removed except where we are legally required to retain it.

6. Cookies and analytics

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in and make checkout work — the Service cannot function without them.
  • Analytics are optional and run only if you accept them in the cookie banner. They help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
  • Personalisation — we use a first-party identifier to remember what you have browsed so recommendations are relevant. This stays on Townsquar and is linked to your account only when you sign in.

You can change your cookie choices at any time in your browser or via the cookie settings on our site.

7. Your rights

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • ask us to delete your information (you can delete your account directly from your account settings);
  • object to certain processing, including direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email customerservice@townsquar.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

8. Security

We protect your information with industry-standard measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and payment processing handled entirely by our licensed payment provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of any breach as required by law.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page with its "Last updated" date, and we will notify you of material changes through the Service.
